We are fortunate to have an abundance of: Bluegill Bream, Crappie (black & white) Sun Perch, Shell Crackers, Warmouth Perch, Jack (Chain Pickerel) Bowfin, Speckle Cats, Butter Cats and Large Mouth Bass. Shiners and a wide variety of minnows provide an excellent food source for the larger fish.
No. This is a private lake.
We have never had the need to stock the Lake. The Lake has always had the unique ability to naturally reproduce enough fish of all species to adequately keep the Lake well stocked.
The Lake has been in the Simmons Family for over 100 years. The original dam was constructed in the 1800’s. Water power from the Lake has been used to run a cotton gin, a saw mill and the most recent was a grits mill during the great depression of the 1920’s.
Two major runs channel water from two very large water sheds that exist to the West and South West of the Lake. Additionally, many springs throughout the Lake furnishes an abundance of fresh water year-round.
Yes. However, we only allow electric motors for moving about within the Lake. No gas-powered engines are allowed by fishermen.
Yes. However, some locations are off limits. Please refer to Fishing Club Rules.
Yes. We honor the creel limit as imposed by the Georgia State Game & Fish Commission for all fish except Large Mouth Bass. We encourage catch and release on all Bass unless the Bass is to be mounted. This lake is being managed for trophy Bass and your feedback is very important to us. We encourage you to send pictures of the Big Bass you are catching.
The annual Membership fee is $200.00. The membership runs for 12 consecutive months from the date as noted on your membership card. The membership includes a spouse, family member or one guest. The assigned member must accompany guest.
Yes. We have a concrete ramp for easy access to the Lake.
- Print fill out and sign the membership application.
- Make check or money order payable to Simmons Mill Pond for $200.00.
- Mail to Steve Simmons, 2057 South Fletcher Avenue, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034.
By return mail you will receive a membership card that must be placed on your vehicle dash while on the property and fishing.

No. Only minnows for Speckle Perch is allowed.
Yes. However, the management and ownership of Simmons Mill Pond is not responsible for thief or damage of any boats or equipment left over night or for an extended period.
No. The Fall Duck shoots are for a private club. The club will have 10 shoots scheduled from late October to the second week in January. All fishing members will be notified of these dates by late summer and this schedule will also be posted at the boat ramp. For your safety, we ask that no fishing be allowed on these dates until after 10:00 am. Other than an occasional change during holidays, these shoots are always on Saturdays.
Yes. For your enjoyment, we have two covered areas with concrete floors.
No.
No. Fishing is only allowed between day break and dark.
No fishing is allowed within 50 feet of the spillway structure on the east side of the pond and raceway or from the entire west bank of the raceway.
Yes. We currently have a restroom located at the boar ramp.
